Wiro · Students Now accepting applications
Your project deserves better than a free tier
Enrolled students get $200 in Wiro credits — enough to actually finish the thing. Over 1000 image, video, audio, 3D and language models, through one API and one key.

What the grant opens
The whole platform, not a student edition
There is no cut-down student tier. The credits spend on exactly what every other account can run — including the expensive video models that a free tier never lets near.
Every model, one API
Image, video, audio, music, 3D and language models from Google, OpenAI, ByteDance, Black Forest Labs, xAI, MiniMax and more — one endpoint, one key, one balance.
The LLM gateway
An OpenAI-compatible endpoint at llm.wiro.ai/v1. Change one base URL and your existing SDK, Cursor or VS Code setup runs on your credits.
Studio in the browser
Try a model, tune its parameters and compare outputs before you write a single line. Useful when the deadline is tomorrow and the pipeline is still a maybe.
Workflows
Chain models into one runnable pipeline — script to voice to video, or image to 3D — without writing the glue code and retry logic yourself.
Agents
Build an agent that can actually run the catalog: give it tools, a model and a budget, and let it do the work behind your app.
Docs and MCP
A full API reference, code examples in every language you are likely to submit, and an MCP server so your editor can run Wiro models directly.
What it buys
$200 measured in things you can hand in
List prices from the live catalog, the same numbers the API bills with. Spend it on one model or spread it across forty — nothing is reserved or ring-fenced.
| If you spent it all on | List price | $200 is roughly |
|---|---|---|
| FLUX.2-dev-turbo — fast image generation | $0.01 / request | 20,000 images |
| Nano Banana — Google image model | $0.039 / output | 5,100 images |
| FLUX Kontext Pro — instruction image editing | $0.04 / request | 5,000 edits |
| Seedance V1 Pro Fast — video generation | from $0.05 / request | up to 4,000 clips |
| Sora 2 — OpenAI video | from $0.40 / request | up to 500 clips |
| Veo 3.1 Fast — Google video | from $0.40 / request | up to 500 clips |
Prices stream live on the pricing page and change as providers change theirs; the figures above are today's list prices, rounded down. Chat models are billed per token through the gateway. Every completed task returns its exact totalcost.
Who applies
Mostly people with a deadline
You do not need a startup, a paper or a plan. A course project that needs more than twenty free generations is reason enough.
Final-year and thesis projects
The point where the free tier runs out and the submission date does not move. Generate the dataset, run the ablation, render the demo.
Research and labs
Benchmark a dozen models against each other without a procurement request. Every run is logged with its exact cost, which makes the methods section easier to write.
Design, film and game students
Storyboards, concept art, voice-over, motion tests and 3D assets from one balance, in a browser, with no GPU to rent or driver to install.
Hackathon teams
A weekend is short. Skip the part where you compare providers and wire up billing, and spend the time on the thing you are demoing.
Student clubs and societies
Running a workshop or an internal jam? Tell us the size of the group when you apply and we will handle it as one request rather than thirty.
People learning in public
Tutorials, write-ups and open-source demos. If you are publishing what you build, say so — it makes the review trivial.
How it works
Three steps, no form to fill in triplicate
-
01
Sign up with your school email
Create your Wiro account using the address your university gave you. That address is the proof, so the account has to carry it.
-
02
Write to us from the app
Press Apply and send one message: your university, your programme and year, and what you want to build. We match it against the school address on your account.
-
03
Redeem your code
We review by hand, usually within two business days, then issue a coupon code tied to your account. Redeem it and the $200 lands on your balance — no payment, no card.
The fine print
What we check, and what we ask in return
Short version: be a student, build your own thing, do not resell the credits.
- Who qualifiesAnyone currently enrolled in higher education — undergraduate, master's or PhD — anywhere in the world. Teaching assistants, researchers and bootcamp students can apply too; we read those case by case.
- What counts as proofAn email address issued by your school, used as the address on your Wiro account. A
.edudomain is not required — most universities outside the United States never had one — but a personal Gmail or Outlook address is not enough on its own. - One grant per studentThe code we issue is personal and single-use, tied to the account you applied from. Per person, not per account or per project — a second account does not get a second grant.
- What it is forCoursework, theses, research, portfolios, hackathons and personal projects. Not for client work, not for resale, and not for running a business — that is what the Startups program is for.
- How long it lastsCredits are valid for 12 months from the day they land on your balance. There is no auto-renewal and no subscription behind them, so nothing charges you when they run out.
- The usual rules still applyThe Wiro terms and content rules cover everything you run on student credits, exactly as they do on a paid balance.

Questions
Before you apply
Do I need a .edu email address?
No — but you do need one from your school. Most universities outside the United States never had a .edu domain; whatever address yours issues is the one we check, and it has to be the address on your Wiro account.
Sign-up rejected my school address. Now what?
Some mail domains are closed at sign-up. Write to us from the button above with your university and the address you are trying to use, we will open yours, and the application carries on in the same thread.
Can I use the credits for paid client work?
No — student credits are for learning and your own projects. If there is an invoice at the end of it, you want the Startups program or an ordinary pay-as-you-go balance.
Which models can I run?
All of them, video included. The grant is ordinary balance, so nothing in the catalog is locked and nothing is rate-limited differently from a paid account.
What happens when the $200 runs out?
Nothing breaks and nothing charges you — there is no card on file and no subscription behind the grant. Your projects, keys and task history stay where they are, and you can top up at list prices whenever you want to keep going.
Can my whole class or club apply together?
Yes, and one message is better than thirty. Tell us the size of the group, the event or course it is for, and who is organising it.
Does the grant renew each year?
It is a one-time grant. If you are still studying and doing something interesting with it, write to us again — but treat the $200 as the whole budget, not the first instalment.
How long does approval take?
Usually under two business days. Applying from an account that already carries your school address is what makes it quick — a message from a personal address has to go back and forth first.
