Speech to speech models and APIs.
Audio in, audio out: change or convert a voice, translate speech, or hold a spoken conversation with a live voice model.
How to pick a speech to speech model
Speech to speech takes audio in and gives audio back. That covers three different jobs: changing a voice, translating speech, and holding a live conversation.
Change the voice in a recording
ElevenLabs Speech to Speech v2 re-voices a recording with another voice and keeps the words, timing and delivery. RVC Voice Clone does the same for songs, using a custom voice model.
Live voice agents
GPT Realtime 2.1 and Gemini 3.8 Live listen and answer in real time and can call tools, so an agent can look things up while it talks. See all realtime voice models.
Translation
GPT Realtime Translate turns live speech into translated speech plus captions, for calls, meetings and broadcasts.
Clean up audio
Noise Reduction removes background noise from speech before you transcribe or re-voice it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between changing a voice and cloning one?
A voice changer keeps your recording and swaps the voice. A cloning model learns a voice from a short sample and then reads new text with it. Cloning models are in voice cloning.
How are realtime models billed?
Per conversation turn, taken from your credits while the session runs. Jobs on recorded audio are billed per run or by length, as each model page shows.
Do I need a WebSocket?
For live conversations, yes. You start the session with a normal API call, then stream audio over a WebSocket. Recorded files work like any other model run.
